With the updated firmware on the FS100 many people have also been asking about new Scene Files for the camera. There was talk about the color or gamma modes changing with the new firmware, but from my testing and from what Sony has told us this is not the case. However, it was well worth re-examining our original files to come up with some new looks for you to try out on the camera.

Sony just announced the NEX-FS700 camera and, lucky for us, they brought it by for a quick peek. It has all the features of the FS100 but with some big improvements including a 3G-SDI output, ND filters and high-speed recording options.

This is an old topic of discussion, but it always seems to come up again and again. Some cameras, such as Sony's FS100, will record in 1080 24p, but output only 1080 60i over HDMI. The FS100 does this to make its output compatible with monitors and other devices.

This week Sony announced their new NXCAM Super-35, aka the FS100. This little camera has the same sensor as the PMW-F3, but with the feature set and price point of the NXCAM line of cameras. The FS100 has a small body design, not much larger than an HDSLR, but Sony packed in all the features that we find in a regular video camcorder.
