I'm here at the 16x9 booth today speaking with James Lee who has some nice updates to Movcam's wireless system to show us. The system features three-channel focus, iris and zoom ("FIZ") control and a hand unit with a touch screen and storable lens mappings. Operating either hard-wired or on the 2.4GHz band, the unit features settable focus points and even vibrates when a focus point is reached.

At our NAB Canon Tech Talk, Megan and Paul Hawxhurst, Professional Market Specialist, discussed Canon's new Compact Servo 18-80mm lens, their new multi-purpose ME200 camera, as well as firmware updates for the C100 Mark II, C300 Mark II, and the DP-V2410 4K reference monitor.

I'm here with Jonathan Miller at the Hive Lighting booth today to talk about Hive's new line of plasma lights, the Plasma 1000s. Plasma, or energy-efficient arc lighting, combines the lower power draws associated with technologies like LED with the throw and punch associated with single point source HMI PAR and flood fixtures.

The next stop on our NAB 2016 tour brings us to the Switronix booth, where Jose Flores was kind enough to share with us a few updates to their products. The Hypercore 8 is a brand new 85Wh, slim-profile Li-Ion battery pack, developed primarily for the compact needs of gimbal operators.

Today I met with Adam Najberg at the DJI booth to check out their latest drones. First we looked at the Matrice 600, or the M600, their newest hexicopter with an integrated flight controller including GPS and an upgradeable DRTK module that gives you centimeter-accurate positioning.

In this Tech Talk, Alan Yates and Justin Brown from Freefly stopped by our booth to show off the new ALTA 8 UAV. The ALTA 8 octocopter is a ready-to-fly system, capable of carrying payloads of up to 20 pounds.

Today I swung by the Miller booth, where Miller engineer Michael Abelev walked me through the features of their new ArrowX series of tripod heads. Solving one of the age-old issues with fluid heads' counterbalance, the Miller ArrowX series adds an extra half-step of counterbalance, accessible from the front of the tripod head - great for when you need just a "little bit more" (or less) to perfectly balance a camera rig.
