The new Wasp and Bee 1000w plasmas produce about two times the output of a similarly rated HMI (mercury medium-arc iodide) while only drawing about 9a each. That means two of them could be safely plugged into a single 20a household circuit.
The Wasp 1000 is a spot light (using a PAR-style lens) and the Bee 1000 is a flood light. With a high 98 CRI rating and full spectrum coverage, these compact, water-resistant fixtures produce a clean, very pure artificial daylight rivaling, or in some cases exceeding, that of HMI and other artificial daylight technologies. The new fixtures come with barn doors and scrims standard and can be used with a wide variety of modifiers from Chimera, Hensel and others.
Both lights feature 50,000 hour bulb and 100% flicker-free performance at ultra-high frame rates (making them a great option for use with Vision Research's Phantom line of cameras). For more about the new Plasma 1000s from Hive Lighting see the video above.
