The lightweight (2.6 lbs) Compact Servo 18-80mm is a new EF mount lens in a class between Canon's great still lenses and cinema lenses. The lens supports dual pixel auto focus and image stabilization, with the same coating and color as the cinema lenses. With a removable and re-positional handgrip, featuring a rosette to move the zoom and run/stop controls wherever you want, this is a great mid-range lens with a lot of potential for run-and-gun shooters. Canon's new ME200 camera is a little brother to the ME20, with a Super 35 sensor, 204,800 ISO, dual pixel auto focus, and 10-bit 4:2:2 uncompressed output to an external recorder with timecode. The camera also features a removable IR filter and will be available in Q4 2016.
New firmware for the C100 Mark II and C300 Mark II will be available on July 28 and will include the new Canon Log 3, re-worked Canon Log 2 for less noise, dual pixel auto focus for the 17-120mm and 18-80mm, a fully functional Hirose connection on the 17-120mm, and magnification during recording for ease with checking focus. The DP-V2410 firmware update will include Log C interpretation and adds the ability to load ARRI LUTs. Canon has also added a split-screen mode with a very cool feature. One half of the split screen will show Log, and one half will have a LUT applied. The monitor is now also ACES qualified. For more in-depth information, watch the full conversation above.
