The Canon C200 is a compact camcorder that utilizes the same basic sensor as their flagship Super35 digital cinema camera, the C700. One of the C200's most striking features is the ability to record 4K RAW files in Canon's new Cinema RAW Light format to an internal CFast card. Cinema RAW Light is a lightly compressed RAW video format that maximizes recording time while giving up very little file quality in comparison to "full fat" RAW.

Red Digital Cinema recently celebrated the 10-year anniversary of delivering the first RED ONE camera bodies into the eager hands of early adopters. As exciting as those early years were for the RED community, a number of judgements about the reality of working with files from these cameras have managed to stick with the company’s products even though times, hardware, and industry support for the RED ecosystem have changed a lot since those heady days – and for the better. Let’s take a look at some common misconceptions about working with RED cameras and footage that have persisted and do some “myth-busting.”

The Sony FS7 II is now shipping, and many of you have asked about our custom scene files. While it has the same sensor as it’s predecessor, the FS7 II has a different scene file structure; scene files from an original FS7 cannot be directly uploaded into a FS7 II. Thus, we recreated our popular scene files for the FS7 II and compiled them in this blog post.

I'm over at the Blackmagic Design booth talking with Jason Druss about their new affordable control surfaces for DaVinci Resolve: the Resolve Mini and Resolve Micro panels. Both panels feature a subset of the functionality available on the full-size Advanced panel targeted but at different user levels.

The Panasonic VariCam 35 has been called the "workflow camera," as it offers multiple internal recording formats that can really speed up your workflow. The camera can capture a 4K or HD V-Log master, while at the same time recording both HD and proxy for instant dailies. The VariCam LT has the same function, but with just a 4K or HD master and a proxy recording.
