The Panasonic VariCam 35 has been called the "workflow camera," as it offers multiple internal recording formats that can really speed up your workflow. The camera can capture a 4K or HD V-Log master, while at the same time recording both HD and proxy for instant dailies. The VariCam LT has the same function, but with just a 4K or HD master and a proxy recording.
Using Pomfort's LiveGrade you can remotely color grade the VariCam 35. In my previous post, I explained how to set up the camera in preparation for the next step - working with the LiveGrade software. The software connects to the camera over a wired or wireless network and can work in a couple of different ways.
It was a busy NAB for our technical specialists with visits to the Panasonic, RED, Arri, Zeiss, Canon, Sony and Freefly booths, to name a few. With so much to cover, we thought we'd round up all our NAB blogs in one place for you.
Now that Panasonic has released their highly-anticipated VariCam 35 and VariCam HS, we wanted to break down some lenses and accessories that complement these new cameras.

One of the biggest pre-NAB announcements came from Panasonic with their new VariCam 35 and HS. We blogged about them when the two versions were first revealed, but at NAB I got a chance to get an even closer look at the VariCam 35.
Last Friday Panasonic made a big pre-NAB announcement - they will be releasing two new versions of their popular VariCam camera. We have seen various versions of what Panasonic has been working on over the last couple of years, including prototypes of both Super-35mm cameras and high-speed 2/3" cameras. Now it seems that Panasonic has decided to make a camera system that fits both needs. The new cameras feature an interesting modular design, where the camera head can be separated from the recording module. The two camera modules they revealed? The VariCam 35 and VariCam HS.
