Today RED updated their flagship camera bodies – V-RAPTOR and V-RAPTOR XL – to new ‘[X]’ versions featuring their latest 8K VV sensor and adding a global shutter, the first in a large-format camera system. These new [X] versions combine advancements from across the RED ecosystem to create twin powerhouses of frame rates, low-light performance, and resolution, housed in their battle-tested, modular V-RAPTOR and all-in-one V-RAPTOR XL bodies. Additionally, RED has introduced a new first-party electronic viewfinder for their DSMC3 cameras, which connects with a single cable and provides control of shooting frame rate, shutter, white balance, and ISO directly from the unit.

Storied optics company Cooke’s latest line of cinema lenses, the compact SP3 Primes, were introduced in Fall 2023. Employing a user-serviceable interchangeable mount system, the full-frame lenses ship in Sony’s E-Mount with Canon RF available as well. Initially, five focal lengths are offered: 25mm, 32mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm. Averaging under 2 pounds and 4 inches in length each, they are Cooke’s most compact Full Frame lenses.
