The new Arri ALEXA HD camera is designed for economical and efficient HD video workflow. It shares the same sensor, color processing, controls, and menus, as well as accessories and software license options as the rest of the ALEXA line.

Last month I showed you how to set up the Ki Pro Quad with the Canon C500 to capture 4K ProRes files. Today I'm going to go over how to capture Canon RAW (up to 59.94p) using the Ki Pro Quad's Thunderbolt pass-through function and AJA's CamXchange software.

With the capability of the Canon C100 and the newly updated 5D Mark III to output uncompressed video with 422 color, the two cameras can both be set up with the Ninja 2 recorder from Atomos.

Sony has just announced the new PMW-300, replacing the very popular PMW-EX3. As an evolution of the EX3, it features an interchangeable lens system and side-mounted viewfinder. The camera comes with a 14x zoom lens, and a 16x version will be available sometime later in the year.

The Canon C500 has been built on the foundation of Canon's popular EOS C300 camera. Sharing the same impressive sensor as the C300, the C500 adds outputs for 10 or 12-bit HD and 2K (2048x1080) video, as well as 4K (both DCI and Quad-HD) RAW output. Available in PL and EOS (EF) mounts, the modular nature and size of the C500 means the camera can live in many configurations - from the fully decked out studio camera to a lightweight run-&-gun setup.
