Several months ago, Sony released a new user-changeable 2K optical low pass filter for their F5 and F55 cameras. The filters are incredibly easy to swap out by loosening just a single Philips screw in the upper right hand corner (yellow arrow in first picture above) of the filter. Simply slide the 4K filter to the right, and pull it away from the camera. The 2K filter then snaps right in, slides to the right, and is held in place with the same Philips screw.

Ahead of NAB, Sony has announced new AXS media for the AXS-R5 Raw recorder, which is designed to work with the F5, F55, and the FS700. These new cards have been shrunk in size from the original AXS 512 GB card (AXS-512S24), and are now the size of standard SxS cards.

Last Friday Panasonic made a big pre-NAB announcement - they will be releasing two new versions of their popular VariCam camera. We have seen various versions of what Panasonic has been working on over the last couple of years, including prototypes of both Super-35mm cameras and high-speed 2/3" cameras. Now it seems that Panasonic has decided to make a camera system that fits both needs.The new cameras feature an interesting modular design, where the camera head can be separated from the recording module. The two camera modules they revealed? The VariCam 35 and VariCam HS.
