NAB 2014: Arri AMIRA

Back at last year's IBC show, Arri revealed their new AMIRA camera, and at NAB this year we are lucky enough to have one in our booth. Aimed at ENG and documentary productions, the AMIRA features a compact design and the same sensor found in the ALEXA.

Arri has definitely taken into consideration the needs of single operators, with a 1280x1024 OLED EVF and a rugged flip-out LCD display that also doubles as the menu display. Check out the video above as I give you a 360-degree tour of the camera.

One of the most important features of the new Arri AMIRA is its ability to load 3D LUTs (Look Up Tables), which really allows you to modify the way the camera looks. The ALEXA allows for basic LUTs with ASC CDL adjustments, but the AMIRA goes a step beyond that to allow for full customization of the image.
