Our annual Post-NAB event that we held in NY earlier this week was a success — we had a great turnout and more gear than ever before. During the event, we tried something new and streamed interviews with some manufacturers directly to Facebook Live. If you missed those interviews, don’t worry, you can watch them all below!

Everyone has an idea for their great passion project, but it takes a certain level of commitment to turn that idea into reality. For director and DP Alexander Hankoff, his short film Yellow was something he knew he wanted to make and it was his (along with his team's) creativity that made it possible.

Derek Frankowski is a director and cinematographer who has specialized in shooting sports and wildlife for commercial clients and documentaries for close to 20 years. For his latest project, Derek shot a commercial with the NHL's Vancouver Canucks. With the fast-paced nature of the NHL and action sports, Derek had to be prepared for any challenges that came his way. Derek was kind enough to discuss how he tackled some of these challenges and how he has been getting it done for all of these years.

RED recently announced the EPIC-W, a DSMC2-based brain with the new HELIUM 8K S35 sensor. At 29.9mm x 15.77mm, the HELIUM 8K is slightly smaller than the DRAGON 6K sensor found in the EPIC or WEAPON, so lens choices should be very straightforward.

RED has opened the doors for third party manufacturers to work natively with their DSMC2 cameras, including the WEAPON, SCARLET-W, and RAVEN. This allows for some some fantastic integrations, both mechanically and electronically. In addition, a number of lens manufacturers have options that work perfectly with the RED platform. Red Bull Media House is no stranger to epic footage. In one of their recent videos, Chain Reaction (which you can watch above), Director Nicholas Schrunk and his team had to find a way to capture multiple, specifically-timed stunts on a tight shooting schedule and in a remote location.

RED has just announced their newest digital cinema camera body, the SCARLET-W, which represents the next step up in the RED family. The SCARLET-W also features RECODE RAW and ProRes file formats but is a bit more feature rich than the RAVEN with interchangeable lens mounts and greater resolution. At at a lower price point than the WEAPON, it ideal for those who only need 5K resolution.

RED just unveiled the latest camera body in their digital cinema lineup, the RAVEN. Harnessing a 4K DRAGON sensor in a compact and flexible form, the RAVEN is the smallest option in the RED lineup.
