Other Lenses & Mount Adapters

The key to using third-party lenses that are not native E Mount is a reliable mount adapter. The fifth generation Metabones adapters (such as the Metabones Canon EF/EF-S Lens to Sony E Mount) offer accurate autofocus that closely matches the use of a native Sony lens. The positive locking EF lens mount on this adapter supports 5-axis image stabilization for lenses that transfer distance information and 3-axis IS for those that do not.

These third-party manufactured lenses provide a range of focal lengths to suit your Sony Alpha a7 III camera, including the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 II USM, which is an excellent full frame, general purpose lens. Looking for a cinema zoom for your kit? The manual Fujinon MK 50-135mm or 18-55 T2.9 Compact Cine Zoom in E Mount suits both narrative and documentary projects with its low chromatic aberration. For solid auto focus, a distortion-free, yet crisp image, and beautiful color consider, the ZEISS Batis prime lenses in native E Mount.

Support Accessories

Build out a camera rig for your Sony a7 III with a SHAPE Cage and top handle with cold shoe. The cage features access to control buttons, battery slot, and memory cards so you can save time on set. Tilta also makes a cage that features an ergonomic wooden grip with a start/stop trigger on it. Be sure to pick up a replacement eye cup (or two) so that you always have a backup handy. The Grip Extension provides both a tripod mount point and an extended grip for a more ergonomic fit in your palm. Or, if you're entering the brave new world of vertical video, choose Sony's Vertical Grip. Since smaller cameras benefit the most from stabilization, check out the Gravity G2X Compact Handheld Gimbal System, from TiltaMax, featuring an unobstructed view of your camera's LCD display. Or look at the Ikan EC1 Beholder 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer, which offers pan-follow and several other modes to capture smooth footage.

In addition, AbelCine offers a bundle to kit out the included Sony a7 III Camera Body with the SHAPE Cage and top handle, a Sony NP-FZ100 rechargeable battery and charger, a 64GB SDXC memory card, Cameo Swivel Mount for an on-board monitor, plus a 5" SmallHD 502 Full HD Field Monitor and Metabones Canon EF/EF-S to Sony E Mount adapter.

Audio Accessories

Expand your documentary, interview or webcam newscasting capabilities by adding audio accessories to your Sony a7 III Camera Body. The Sennheiser AVX system plugs directly into the XLR K2 M. Be sure to stock up on Rycote Overcovers and Stickies to reduce wind noise from the personal microphone. For professional XLR connections, look at Sony's XLR-K2M, which mounts in the camera's MI (for Multi-Interface) shoe above the EVF. You can also add a monitor/recorder, such as the ATOMOS Shogun Inferno 7" 4K Monitor/Recorder or the 7.7" Convergent Design Odyssey 7Q+ OLED Monitor/Recorder for higher quality files when using the HDMI output. Both pair well with the Cameo Swivel Mount for support.

Power & Monitor Accessories

Power your Sony a7 III Camera with Z-Series batteries or extend your shoot time with 4x batteries when you purchase a Sony Multi Battery Adapter Kit. The Adapter also delivers 2x USB power outputs to charge or power on-board accessories that use regulated 5v power. You can also add an on-board monitor with essential tools, such as Peaking and False Color.

Media

Record UHD 4K at 30 fps internally with one of the two media cards shown below. These high-performance SDXC Memory Cards more than meet the specs for in-camera recording in Sony's XAVC-S codec. Plus, these cards are shock-proof, temperature-proof, water-proof, and x-ray proof to withstand the rigors encountered daily in the field.

The new Sony a7 III is the latest addition to the Alpha 7 series of cameras, packing a brand new 24-megapixel, backside illuminated sensor (BSI) with 5-axis optical image stabilization. This camera is what Sony refers to as a “basic” full frame model, but that doesn’t mean it is lacking in features at all.
