It seems like just yesterday we announced our 2013 AbelCine Documentary Grant and put out a call for submission videos to be uploaded to Vimeo. After a round of public voting, ten finalists were chosen and now, after much deliberation, our judging committee has decided on the three winners. Congratulations to Steven Liang, Danilo Lima, and Ecar Oden for being named the 2013 AbelCine Documentary Grant winners!
The judges (including our guest filmmakers Mark Benjamin, Ellen Kuras, ASC, and Peter Schnall) took into consideration the compelling nature of the topics, as well as the strength of the submission videos and the likelihood that the finished projects would exemplify the art of non-fiction storytelling. Now each of the awardees will receive a $33,000 equipment grant to be used on the Canon C300 package and lenses of their choice, as well as unlimited access to cloud-based credits service, Endcrawl.
