Custom tuned to match the cinematographer's vision
The BLACKWING7 lens family by TRIBE7 includes seven full format prime lenses, each of which is configured by the manufacturer to match the creative style of the cinematographer. This is accomplished by tuning up to three characteristics per lens: sharpness, contrast, roll-off, spherical aberration, field curvature, edge halation, or flare.
Many of the design characteristics of BLACKWING7 lenses are derived from prime optics manufactured from the 1930s – 1960s, but their true inspiration comes from experimental music and audio synthesis, and the process of creating distortion through sound amplification. The image produced by a BLACKWING7 lens has a "musical fidelity," in which the lens's distortion can by tuned to produce the desired artistic resonance, including unique flaring characteristics.
