The ARRI ALEXA Mini LF Digital Cinema Camera combines the compact size and low weight of the popular ALEXA Mini with the large-format (36.7mm x 25.54mm) ALEXA LF sensor, offering exciting new possibilities for full format content creators.

The ALEXA Mini LF utilizes the same ALEV 3 A2X sensor as the ALEXA LF, though the electronics of the Mini LF have been modified to meet the size, power, and cooling requirements of such a compact camera system. While this does not affect image quality in any way, it is important to note that maximum framerates achievable in different recording formats are limited, compared to the full-size ALEXA LF:

Robust and reliable, the ALEXA Mini LF provides exceptional overall image quality for large-format capture, featuring three internal motorized FSND filters, 12/24V power input compatible with 14.4V or 24V onboard batteries (thanks to a ~65W nominal power draw; when recording ARRIRAW 24 fps with an MVF-2 EVF connected), additional 12V & 24V accessory power outputs, and a new Codex Compact Drive recording system.

The ALEXA Mini LF supports a new 1TB Codex Compact Drive (included), containing one industral SSD (without RAID) in a durable enclosure. The drive's 960GB usable capacity is available for ARRIRAW and ProRes recording, and is formatted in UDF by the camera for use with ARRIRAW and ProRes on the same media without reformatting or changing drives. The Codex Compact Drive is capable of a sustained 8 Gbps write speed.

The ALEXA Mini LF is natively compatible with ARRI and cmotion wireless lens control systems for easy integration with your existing equipment. A new, high definition, high-contrast MVF-2 electronic viewfinder has also been developed specifically for use with this camera (sold separately).

All components in the ARRI Large Format Camera System are designed to take full advantage of the larger sensor while offering compatibility with existing lenses, accessories, and workflows. The ALEXA Mini LF is compatible with LPL & PL Mount Full Format (Full Frame) and Super35 lenses, when the corresponding interchangeable lens mount or adapter is installed. LDS-2 or /i lens metadata is accessible via the LPL mount, and LDS-1 or /i metadata is supported via the PL-to-LPL Adapter (included). Other manufacturers offer proprietary lens mounts for both the ALEXA LF and ALEXA Mini LF cameras to support their own lenses. All anamorphic de-squeeze ratios are supported.

IMPORTANT NOTE: At launch, the ALEXA Mini LF does not support Super35 recording modes. However, this functionality is a planned future SUP update. The LF 16:9 UHD (3840x2160) recording mode will have the smallest image area (36.35mm) available at launch.

Firmware Updates:

• ALEXA Mini LF SUP 6.0.21 contains no feature changes from ALEXA Mini LF SUP 6.0.20, but does implement various bug fixes (including a fix for a bug that sometimes prevents the Compact Drive 1TB from mounting properly). 
• Updating: 
  • For all ALEXA Mini LF owners, ARRI strongly recommends updating to Mini LF SUP 6.0.21. However, ARRI does not recommend installing a new SUP in the middle of a production.
  • ALEXA Mini LF SUP 6.0.21 can be installed on all previously shipped ALEXA Mini LF cameras: pre-production PP-1 (6.0.4), pre-production PP-2 (6.0.11) as well as production cameras (6.0.15, 6.0.16 and 6.0.20).
• Downdating:
  • While it is possible to downdate ALEXA Mini LF cameras to previous SUP versions from this version, ARRI strongly recommends against this, as this SUP includes important bug fixes and significantly enhances usability and stability.
  • ARRI recommends that you take your time to go through the release notes, the known issues section of the release notes document, and the user manual before you start using the camera.

The ARRI LPL Mount for ALEXA Mini / AMIRA is specifically designed for large format and/or full format (full frame) sensors and lenses with an LPL (Large Positive Lock) mount. A wider diameter and shorter flange focal depth allows the ARRI Signature Prime lenses and all future large-format optics to be small and lightweight, with a fast maximum aperture and pleasing bokeh. This combination of features would not be possible within the confines of the PL lens mount.

NOTE: This mount is compatible with ARRI LDS-2 and Cooke /i lens interface technologies (LDS contacts at the 12 o'clock position), and can be equipped with the PL-to-LPL Adapter to accept PL mount lenses. Camera, lenses, and other accessories are sold separately.

The ARRI PL to LPL Mount Adapter enables the user to mount existing compatible Super 35 or Full Frame PL Mount lenses on the ALEXA LF's new Large Positive Lock (LPL) Mount. The LPL Mount is optimized for large-format sensors. A wider diameter and shorter flange focal depth allows the ARRI Signature Prime lenses and all future large-format optics to be small and lightweight, with a fast T-stop and pleasing bokeh. This combination of features would not be possible within the confines of the PL lens mount. 

The adapter passes LDS (LDS-1) protocol and is LDS-2 and /i compatible. It features black earlobes (whereas the LPL mount has blue earlobes). The adapter attaches securely to the LPL lens mount without tools, allowing crews to rapidly switch between PL and LPL lenses on set. The user can set the mount and adapter to 12 o'clock or 3 o'clock positions to accommodate third party lenses.

The ARRI Mini Adapter Plate MAP-2A fits your ARRI ALEXA Mini and the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF on the top of your camera or as a baseplate. The MAP-2A features an improved rod clamping mechanism.

Ideal for small camera rig scenarios, the MAP-2A includes 3/8-16" & 1/4-20" accessory mount points and 15mm rod ports. It includes an integrated 15mm LWS rod console to allow 15mm lightweight rods to pass through from front to back.

The ARRI MVB-1 Viewfinder Mounting Bracket provides a mount to secure your ARRI MVF-1 Viewfinder to the ALEXA Mini camera system or the ALEXA Mini LF camera (both sold separately). It allows the operator to position the EVF in multiple orientations to avoid obstructions.

Attach this ARRI CCH-2 Center Camera Handle to your ARRI ALEXA Mini LF, ARRI ALEXA Mini, Classic ALEXA M, AMIRA, or other cameras equipped with ARRI Pro Camera Accessories (PCA). Requires either a MAP-1 or MAP-2 adapter plate to do this. The CCH-2 Handle can connect to SONY F5/55 cameras using a top cheeseplate. 

This handle not only offers a grip, so you can carry your ALEXA Mini, it also provides added attachment points for mounting accessories. The handle includes 3/8"-16 UNC threaded mount points for your use.

Secure the ARRI Center Camera Handle to the adapter plate with the (4) included screws and the adapter plate to your ARRI ALEXA Mini, ALEXA M or AMIRA camera.

The ARRI Mini Side Bracket MSB-3 for ALEXA Mini and Mini LF is designed to fit securely around the on-board recorder and the viewfinder connector (camera left) of the ALEXA Mini LF. It is backwards compatible with the ALEXA Mini camera body. 

The ARRI MSB-2 Mini Side Bracket offers support for lens motors in configurations that require lightweight baseplates with no rod support, such as lightweight stabilizer systems or drones. Features (1) parallel 19mm tube/rod clamp with compact ratcheting kip handle, multiple 3/8"-16 threaded mounting points, and (1) ARRI rosette accessory mounting point. Attaches to ALEXA Mini MAP-1 or MAP-2 Top/Bottom Adapter Plates (sold separately) via captive mounting screws.

This is compatible with both your ARRI ALEXA Mini LF and your ARRI ALEXA Mini.

The ARRI CBP-1 Compact Bridge Plate for ALEXA Mini - 19mm is a baseplate specifically designed for use with the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF and the ARRI ALEXA Mini, featuring an integrated shoulder pad. The CBP-1 offers the advantage of a sliding studio bridge plate without the added weight. The quick-release system allows the camera to be attached directly to the balance plate without having to slide the assembly out. Features (2) ARRI rosette accessory mounts.

The ARRI RAB-1 Rear Accessory Bracket offers flexible attachment options for use of accessories such as modern battery solutions on the ARRI ALEXA Mini LF and the ALEXA Mini. Features 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded mounting points and captive mounting screws.

IMPORTANT NOTE: For installation, this bracket requires an MAP-1(sold separately) or MAP-2A (Top) Adapter Plate (included in this kit) and a compatible baseplate, such as the CBP-1 Compact Bridge Plate (also included in this kit). The ARRI Rod Mounting Bracket (RMB-3) offers support for a single 19 mm rod. It also provides mounting solutions for accessories, such as optional lens motors or your lightweight viewfinder mounts. Includes a locking lever to hold your rod in place once it slides into the bracket.

If you need to convert this to a 15 mm rod, you can do so using an optional Reduction Insert (K2.66255.0), available separately.

This single ARRI 15 mm Reduction Insert can be fitted to any 19 mm rod mount to allow compatibility with 15 mm rods.

Pair this with an optional RMB-3 Rod Mounting Bracket to supply both 19 mm and 15 mm rod mounts to your camera configuration.

The ARRI Gold Mount Power Splitting Box Mk II is a proven battery solution featuring various industry standard accessory power connectors, plus an 8-Pin LEMO connector tethered to the box for battery input (cables such the ARRI KC-50, sold separately). A console can be attached to mount this splitting box to your standard 15mm LWS rods.
