RED has opened the doors for third party manufacturers to work natively with their DSMC2 cameras, including the WEAPON, SCARLET-W, and RAVEN. This allows for some some fantastic integrations, both mechanically and electronically. In addition, a number of lens manufacturers have options that work perfectly with the RED platform. Today I met with Adam Najberg at the DJI booth to check out their latest drones. First we looked at the Matrice 600, or the M600, their newest hexicopter with an integrated flight controller including GPS and an upgradeable DRTK module that gives you centimeter-accurate positioning.

In this Tech Talk, Alan Yates and Justin Brown from Freefly stopped by our booth to show off the new ALTA 8 UAV. The ALTA 8 octocopter is a ready-to-fly system, capable of carrying payloads of up to 20 pounds.

Today I swung by the Miller booth, where Miller engineer Michael Abelev walked me through the features of their new ArrowX series of tripod heads. Solving one of the age-old issues with fluid heads' counterbalance, the Miller ArrowX series adds an extra half-step of counterbalance, accessible from the front of the tripod head - great for when you need just a "little bit more" (or less) to perfectly balance a camera rig.

I visited the Tiffen booth to speak with Robin Thwaites, International Director of Sales, about two new products that had their first showing at IBC: the Pilot 2 and the SteadiMate.

One of the big announcements from Cine Gear 2015 was OConnor's new 2560 fluid head. The 2560 replaces the popular 2065, and joins the 2575 and 1030 as top-of-the-line fluid heads for cinema use.

One of the biggest crowd pleasers at the AbelCine booth this year was the Freefly MIMIC, especially as attendees saw how intuitively it controlled camera framing.
