In this installment of our NAB 2017 coverage, I’m here with Patrick Santucci from Sigma to discuss some updates and new lenses in the Sigma Cine series.

Today I met with Jean-Marc Bouchut to get the rundown on Angenieux’s new offerings showing at NAB 2017. Included is the compact and lightweight Optimo Style 48-130, available this fall, with a 44mm diameter image circle, T3 constant maximum aperture, and 3’1” close focus.

Fujinon recently released the native Sony E-mount MK 18-55mm cinema zoom as an “ultra-compact, and 2 lb, 2 oz lightweight design lens that meets the needs of Super35 and APS-C sensor cameras.” The lens features “outstanding optical performance and low distortion with T2.9 speed across the entire zoom range, as well as fully manual lens rings for focus, zoom, and iris.”

As a documentary cinematographer, I am constantly struggling to decide which lenses I want in my kit for any given project. The options over the years have ranged from minimal to overwhelming. In the beginning, I was mostly restricted to DSLR-style lenses to interface with my EF or Sony E-mount cameras.

Fujifilm today launched two exciting new cinema zoom lenses: the FUJINON MK18-55mm T2.9 and MK50-135mm T2.9. The two lenses are the first of the new MK series and look to be a great fit for emerging shooters and DPs who need coverage of the most useful focal length ranges for Sony E-mount Super35-sized sensor cameras (similar to the APS-C sensor size in the DSLR world).

As IBC 2016 draws closer, the internet is abuzz with rumors and announcements of new products to be introduced at this year's show. One of the first official product announcements, published today, was the introduction of Zeiss's newest offering in the lightweight zoom category, the LWZ.3 21-100mm T2.9-3.9.

Chuck Lee from Fujifilm's Optical Devices Division stopped by our booth for a Tech Talk, and he brought along the new Cabrio XK that Geoff blogged about earlier this month.

For this Tech Talk, Snehal Patel of Zeiss joined us to talk about the different lenses they are exhibiting at NAB, from the popular CP.2s to Compact Zooms, and the new Otus 1.4/28mm.
