AbelCine FOV Tool Anamorphic Updates

When we first launched our FOV 2.0 tool, we promised an update to support anamorphic lenses and camera modes. We’ve now implemented this feature, adding several cameras and 2x anamorphic lenses.

Comparing camera field of view in anamorphic can be especially confusing, because it is largely dependent on sensor height instead of width. For instance, the RED DSMC2 camera with the HELIUM 8K sensor has nearly the same width as the RED DSMC2 with the GEMINI sensor, 29.9mm vs 30.72mm. But the GEMINI sensor is considerably taller, at 18mm vs 15.77mm, than that of the HELIUM and this height yields a 10% wider field of view in 2x anamorphic.

Check out the updated tool for yourself. We’ll continue to add new cameras and different modes, as well as more lenses, over time.
