I spent time in the Creative Solutions booth at NAB 2019 with Greg Smokler talking about SmallHD’s new Cine 7 monitor. This monitor features the familiar 7” form factor you may know from other SmallHD monitors, such as the 702, but adds some great new features including a touchscreen, high maximum brightness (1800 nits) and DCI-P3 color reproduction.
The big news though, is that the Cine 7 can plug in to an ARRI ALEXA Mini or AMIRA camera over Ethernet and control critical camera functions directly from the display. Camera control functions, using a slick ARRI-style interface, exist on their own "page" in the SmallHD touch-based UI, making it easy to switch between your exposure, focus and other monitoring tools and camera control. To see this in action, as well as the other standout features of this exciting new monitor, watch the video above.
