Simply put, ProRest RAW allows for the speed and modest hardware requirements we know from ProRes, while providing the flexibility of RAW. Available in two "flavors," ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ, the new codec produces RAW video with file sizes similar to ProRes 422HQ and ProRes 4444 repsectively. It is also optimized for 4K HDR productions. A top-end iMac Pro will allow an astonishing 8 simultaneous 4K ProRes RAW streams and even laptops will be able to do multiple streams, depending on their hardware specs.
