The first lens on our tour is a brand new addition to the Master Anamorphic series, Zeiss' flagship line of prime lenses. These lenses are extremely popular on feature films, but have been finding their way into increasingly more commercial and television productions as well. The new lens, a 180mm, features a T2.8 aperture and, like all other members of the Master Anamorphic line, removable front and rear elements, which allows more complete creative image control in creating flares or lower contrast looks.
Our next stop on the tour brings us over to the Compact Prime lineup. The three most recent additions are Super Speed lenses in 35mm, 50mm and 85mm focal lengths, all at the same T1.5. This provides the Super Speed lenses with a stop more of light over their Compact Prime counterparts at T2.1.
Determined to offer complete solutions, Zeiss has also introduced new OEM lens gears, aimed at helping their stills lenses serve a more dual purpose function when being used for video. With the addition of lens gears, as well as the option to declick the aperture of both the Loxia and Milvus families of lenses, Zeiss has created a truly hybrid option featuring the best of stills and video functionality. Watch the video above for full details on all of the offerings that Zeiss provides.
