I visited the Panasonic booth at NAB to look at some new products. The first one is the VariCam Extension Unit, a modular system with a recorder and a head that can be separated. This extension unit allows you to send the data from the head back into the recorder and allows you to go up to 5 meters away.
I also spoke to Bernie Mitchell, Digital Media Evangelist at Panasonic, about the new DVX200. The DVX200 is a run-n-gun 4K camera with a newly designed 4/3 sensor. It records 4K/60p on SD cards. This camera will be shipping in Fall 2015. I also looked at the VariCam 35's low light capabilities. The VariCam 35 has dual native ISO modes of both 800 and 5000, and at the 5000 mode you can get a really clean image.
