We spent a few days at the show, and I stopped by some of the booths to chat about upcoming gear. Special thanks to our friends at Newsshooter. Be sure to check out their great show coverage — including Matt Allard and Erik Naso's IBC wrap up video embedded below!
Canon
Canon is building upon their impressive monitor line with the new DP-V2411, a 24" DCI 4K HDR monitor that's great as a reference montior and for field use. An LCD panel with a peak brightness (at 100% full screen white) of 600 nits (1000 nits in boost mode), the DP-V2411 includes the great side-by-side tools and Canon Raw debayering found in the other panels. It also includes a HDR metering mode, eliminating any guesswork for HDR exposures.
Panasonic
We first covered the EVA-1 during Cine Gear, but now that more details have been released (including the first official footage), we stopped by the Panasonic booth to take a closer look. Sporting a dual native ISO of 800 and 2500, with a 5.7K S35 sensor, the EVA-1 will be a great fit for productions of all sizes.
Sony
Sony publicly unveiled the VENICE, originally teased during Cine Gear. Much of the DNA of the VENICE is from the F5 and F55, but Sony has taken valuable feedback from users and built an adaptable platform for their next generation camera. Sporting a new full-frame (24x36mm) 6K sensor with a user removable sensor block, the VENICE offers flexible codec options to the internal SxS cards or the optional AXS-R7 recorder.
Vision Research
Vison Research introduced the new VEO4K-S, taking the compact form factor of the VEO 640S but incorporating the same sensor found on the Flex4K-GS. Just like the Flex4K-GS, the VEO4K-S is user switchable between global shutter and rolling shutter modes, and records to less expensive C.Fast 2.0 media. For quicker file transfers, you can also use the 10 GigE connection to offload directly from the internal RAM.
Wrap-Up
