With large sensor cameras being used more frequently for run-and-gun style shooting, the ability to have a shoulder mount configuration and servo-controlled lenses becomes a critical requirement. And since the CZ.2 lenses feature the Zeiss Interchangeable Mount System (IMS), users are able to adapt them to virtually any camera system or shooting style.
Power for the new servo can be pulled from the camera via PL mount contacts, lens interface cable, or externally (direct to battery). One of the most unique features of Zeiss' servo is in the way it is attached and the speed of exchanging the unit. A sleeve and installation plate can be attached to each lens, and the servo unit is snapped directly on to the plate -- no tools required. Those with several CZ.2 lenses can now swap quickly between servo units with no down time.
