This new zoom has many of the same characteristics as the other Cabrio lenses such as a compact and lightweight (2.9kg) design, 2.9 T-stop, and a powerful servo drive unit. What's more, its 114mm front diameter matches that of the existing two Cabrio zooms, making it convenient on set for lens interchangeability and filtration. The wide-angle design has been much requested and we are glad to see Fujinon deliver.
The other two members of the Cabrio lineup were both introduced last year: the Cabrio 19-90mm (ZK4.7x19) is extremely popular for its zoom range, size, and detachable zoom, while the Cabrio 85-300 (ZK3.5x85) is a telephoto option for those who need the same functionality but in a much longer zoom range. The Cabrio 14-35mm really completes the set by offering a much-needed wider end for close-up handheld work.
Back at NAB 2013, we did a blog on the new Cabrio lens (though it was a 14-28mm zoom at this point), and we're happy that the final version has even more range. We can expect to see this new lens to start shipping in October.
