The Tiffen Neutral Density 0.9 HE Horizontal Grad Filter - 4x5.65 is designed to darken the top or bottom of an image (depending on filter orientation) without affecting image color. The hard gradient transitions from totally clear to full ND value, with ND 0.9 equaling 3-stops of exposure reduction.
NOTE: Telephoto lenses make use of a relatively small portion of the filter. Therefore, Tiffen recommends a hard edge for use with long lenses, as a soft edge could become "lost" in the image.
