Overview
The Focus Optics 14-24mm Ruby Series Zoom T2.8 is a completely rehoused Nikkor 14-24mm zoom lens with an all-new design by Focus Optics. New mechanical elements reverse the direction of focus to standard cine style, and the focus rotation is extended to 126° with an anti-backlash mechanism for repeatable accuracy.
There are 14 focus witness marks (1’, 1’ 2”, 1’ 4”, 1’ 8”, 1’ 10”, 2’, 2’ 6”, 3’, 4’, 5’, 8’, 10’ and infinity). The Minimum Object Distance (or, close focus) is at 1' (0.3m). For use of the lens when shooting VistaVision format, a replacement screw-in front housing ring is included as the standard ring will vignette at the widest focal length. The zoom mechanism features a unique, dual-bearing race design to eliminate image shift. The aperture range is from T2.8 to T22.
The front diameter of the Ruby 14-24 is 110mm, and the lens accepts a screw-in 102mm filter. The overall length is 138mm, with a weight of 3 lb.
