Panasonic VariCam 35 4K S35mm PL-mount Camera AU-V35C1

The Panasonic AU-V35C1 VariCam 35 4K Camera Module - PL Mount features a Super 35mm MOS Sensor, offering 4K (4096x2160) and UHD (3840x2160) resolution and boasting wide dynamic range, high sensitivity with low noise, and a cinematic depth of field to suit a wide variety of production needs. With a dynamic range of 14+ stops, the image is accurately rendered over the entire area to capture even dim scenes without compromising picture quality. Panasonic's use of V-Gamut and V-Log offers V-709 gamma with a tone suitable for preview monitors as well as broadcast quality content for TV.

The VariCam 35 delivers two native ISO settings (800 and 5000) to achieve high sensitivity and low noise. Two dedicated analog circuits are implemented on each pixel of the imager for dual native ISO before gain processing. This achieves the required high sensitivity and improves low-light shooting by maintaining a realistic mood. With a full-size sensor, the VariCam 35 can record in 4K (4096x2160) and UHD (3840x2160). It also supports AVC-Intra2K444/422 for 2K recording and AVC-Intra444/422/200/100 for HD recording.

This camera records approximately 180 minutes of 4K 4:2:2/24p video, 24-bit/48kHz/4-channel high-quality audio, and metadata. Variable frame rate recording falls in the range of 1fps to 120fps. Both Overcranking (slow-motion) and undercranking (quick-motion) effects are possible, plus the frame rate can be adjusted while shooting.

In camera color grading (3D LUT/CDL) is possible with either the VariCam 35 control panel or 3rd party software. With two independent recorders (Main Recorder and Sub-Recorder), you can record in two formats and codecs and select from V-Log/V-709/Grading. This delivers an ungraded V-Log/4K master and a graded HD daily file can be captured simultaneously. This provides main data for production purposes, plus an HD file for broadcast or preview. All files contain common metadata.
