  • Use with harness or Steadicam rigs
Overview

Overview

The DJI Ronin 2 3-Axis Stabilizer offers the versatility of multiple production options. It is compatible with car mounts, jibs, cranes, Steadicam or harness rigs, cable rigs, and aerial devices. The Ronin 2 detachable grip allows the gimbal to stand on its own or be separated from the grip for flight, jibs, or other configurations where a handgrip is not needed.

Upgraded Features

DJI refined the original Ronin to improve and amplify its setup and use. The manufacturer states they made revisions to mounting of cameras, balancing or tuning them, powering accessories, and also adjusted transportation options. The handheld grip is also a defining feature. Previously, the tuning stand an upper handgrip were featured. The Ronin 2 boasts a bigger handgrip which surrounds your camera and the gimbal to allow for more handhold space.

You can also lock the yaw motor for 2-axis mode when using a Steadicam, plus individually lock each axis for easier setup, balancing, and safer transportation of your gimbal system.

Powerful Motors - Now includes up to 8x more powerful motors than previous iterations. The Ronin 2 can withstand sustained speeds of over 75mph with camera builds weighing up to 30 lb. DJI increased power without sacrificing control. The precision remains at +/- 0.02° accuracy.

Ronin Power Hub - Essential accessories, such as the optional DJI Focus or wireless video transmission systems, plug into the Ronin Power Hub to gain power and communicate data.

Revised Remote Controller - The remote controller provides dedicated controls for joystick input speed, plus start/stop recording. It is smaller than before and offers dual control frequency bands: 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz.

3rd Party Compatibility - Ronin 2 is compatible with third party remote controllers such as hand wheels and traditional remotes through the on-board D-Bus port.

Easier Setup - Integrated adjustment knobs allow for fine adjustments, which is essential for camera balancing. The Ronin 2 also includes a redesigned camera mounting base and a quick-release.

SmoothTrack  - The SmoothTrack algorithm has been enhanced for smoother performance. SmoothTrack gives a single gimbal operator the ability to transform their tilt and pan movements on the gimbal into smooth and stabilized camera angle changes. This makes framing wide-angle or close scenes significantly easier for a single operator.

Smart Features

Enhanced intelligence means filmmakers can achieve shots with the Ronin 2 that would previously have required special expertise or additional equipment, from total smoothness control to studio-oriented smart features. The Ronin 2 includes the ability for a Panoramic view, Timelapse, and the CamAnchor feature.

Integrated Display - An integrated ultra-bright touchscreen with intuitive software rests in the Ronin 2 facing the camera operator. It can be removed and is a handheld feature about the size of your smart phone. You can change most of the settings which appear in the gimbal assistant app.

Built-in GPS - An integrated GPS provides Ronin 2 with essential information for gimbal acceleration and speed, which is crucial for maintaining the camera's position and the horizon level when moving at high speeds. It also performs well in high G-force situations.

DJI Assistant App - This helpful app is available for both iOS and Android systems.

Camera Control - For select cameras, you can control settings such as: start/stop recording, ISO, frame rate, resolution.

Integrated Power

Power systems are now integrated within the Ronin 2. This makes the Ronin 2 capable of powering its motors and the attached camera and accessories without dangling cables or multiple power system accessories. The Ronin 2 uses a dual battery system with the same type of batteries used on the Inspire 2 (sold separately). If you are powering your RED DRAGON camera, the Ronin 2 dual battery system lasts approximately 2.5 hours.

Hot Swap - You can now hot swap to maintain power to your camera and accessories for maximum shooting times.

Accessory Powering - Integrated power cables and ports assist you in powering your camera, monitor, or other accessories. This integration removes the potential of catching cables and losing power accidentally and provides for a level of convenience and speed not found in the original Ronin gimbal.

Ports & Connections Include:

  • P-Tap
  • SDI Out
  • UART & USB
  • GPS Module
  • (3) DC Out

Varied Camera Positions

Switch effortlessly between the 3 modes of operation, without adjusting any settings or needing a 2nd operator remote:

The Ronin 2 permits you to transition between Upright and Underslung without changing the orientation of the camera.

  • Upright Mode -Shoot at or above eye-level by flipping and lifting the lightweight Ronin-M above your head. This mode is perfect for shooting out of a car's sunroof or above a crowd of people.
  • Underslung Mode - Film effortlessly and comfortably in the most common shooting mode, holding the Ronin-M directly in front of you at chest level.
  • Briefcase Mode - Filming in narrow spaces or moving through a doorway is effortless with Briefcase mode. Turn the gimbal vertically and hold it by your side close to your legs, just like a briefcase.

Maximized Reliability

Every element of Ronin 2 was designed to maximize reliability, from materials to the splash-proof enclosed motor design, cable management, and redundancy.

The Ronin 2 3-Axis Gimbal features a carbon fiber build to enable your stabilizer to function well in extreme weather conditions. It also creates a lightweight and durable frame for longterm use of this product.

The (2) self-heating self-heating batteries on the Ronin 2 ensure stable power output for high-performance in temperatures as low as -4°F (-20°C) and high heat environments. These dual batteries are capable of operating simultaneously and independently to provide complete redundancy.

You can remotely control the Ronin 2 on your aerial device over 1km away, which is approximately 0.62 miles
