Overview
Join us for our monthly event series in LA: AbelCine's Gear & Schmear!
These morning mixers take place every month, and focus on the latest technology as well as the craft of filmmaking, brought together over breakfast bagels, various schmears, and coffee.
This is a great opportunity to meet up with your fellow creatives and experience emerging technology in a fun, unstructured setting.
Our next Gear & Schmear, on Thursday, June 28, will focus on the Sony a7 III. Sony specialists - along with AbelCine technical specialists - will also be on hand to answer questions about the camera. We can't wait to see you, so be sure to RSVP today!
This Month's Technology Focus
Sony a7 III
The Sony a7 III Mirrorless Digital Camera features 5-axis SteadyShot Image Stabilization, high dynamic range, and captures 4K images and video with a 24.2 Megapixel Full Frame CMOS sensor with back-illuminated design.
A combination of new-generation image processing system and a new sensor achieves an up to 1.5-stop improvement in image quality (compared to the a7 II under Sony test conditions). A wide ISO sensitivity range of up to ISO 51200 is standard, and approx. up to 15-stop dynamic range at low sensitivity settings is achieved. Upgraded Detail Reproduction and Area-Specific Noise Reduction combine to suppress noise and maintain a sense of high overall resolution.
An evolved image processing system and a9 camera AF algorithms optimized for the a7 III improve AF speed, precision, and tracking performance. 693 phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast-detection AF points provide high-density wide-area coverage. AF speed up to twice as fast (compared to the a7 II in dim light under Sony test conditions) and more precise AF tracking performance let you capture and maintain focus on a quickly moving subject in unpredictable motion. The a7 III also autofocuses reliably down to EV-3 brightness (ISO 100 equivalent, f/2 lens, in the AF-S mode).
