Overview
Join us on Friday, August 28 for Creative Forces Online! This FREE event will feature special guest cinematographer Benedict Spence, who will discuss his artistic approach to crafting shots as well as what inspires his work as a cinematographer. The stream will be hosted by AbelCine Technology and Education Development Manager Megan Donnelly, with time for Q&A throughout.
Benedict Spence is a cinematographer based in East London. He started making horror films with his friends in his teens, shooting 8mm video and editing tape-to-tape in their school's media department. After a three year TV University course, he started work as a freelancer in 2002. He worked as a lighting cameraman on TV shows like MTV Cribs, and Pimp My Ride, as well as countless documentaries, reality shows and children's television, while shooting short films and music videos on the side. Slowly, he started shifting his career into commercials and drama during the late 00s.
In the past 5-6 years, Benedict has become a full-time commercials DOP, with a few dips into drama and scripted comedy. Recently, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on The End Of The F***ing World.
