Exercises include setting up the camera for a variety of production scenarios and, of course, practice shooting. By the end of the workshop, you will have gained the knowledge and confidence required to shoot with the ALEXA Mini and Mini LF on a wide range of projects.

Topics include menus, specialty uses, accessories, exposure dynamics, LOG-C, RAW workflow, LUTs, shooting anamorphic, and DIT workflows.

Day 1

• Brief overview of the ALEXA ecosystem
• Camera settings, control, and menus
• Setting up the camera
• Resolutions, aspect ratios, frame rates, high-speed mode
• Hands-on exercise: Camera builds, setting up for a project
• Exposure dynamics: Exposing for Log C & BT709
• Shooting exercise: Exposure, aspect ratios, frame rates, etc.
• Footage review
• Post production: Importing footage

Day 2

• Optics overview: Full frame & Super 35mm
• Understanding recording formats and their applications
• ARRIRAW and ProRes codecs
• Log-C / wide color gamut
• LUTs & Looks
• DIT Tools: LiveGrade Pro and interfacing directly with ALEXA
• License overview and application: Anamorphic and ARRIRAW
• Rigging your camera: Electronic accessories including wireless lens control, Master Grips
• Wi-Fi camera control
• Hands on exercise: building a full ALEXA Mini and Mini LF package, including studio, handheld, and specialty rigs
• Workflow: DIT / Offload / RAW / DaVinci Resolve
