Advanced Digital Cinema is our new series that teaches the key building blocks of technical knowledge needed to advance your career in the Camera Department. Join us for Media Management, live from the comfort of your home, on the road, or anywhere. In this interactive session you will see the instructor and be able to ask questions.
This class and all of its materials will be delivered on the Smashcut platform. Smashcut is an online learning environment, designed especially for media education, that offers robust collaborative instruction with media sharing capabilities, contextual feedback on student work, and broadcast-quality asychronous video lectures. Once students have registered for this course, they will be granted access to Smashcut.
Media management is a core camera department function with specific duties related to the safeguarding of camera original files. In this course, we'll dig into the equipment needed, how the role collaborates on-set including responsibilities, and the technical info behind media devices. From having a system to keep fresh media available to camera, making verified backups and QC’ing footage, to creating reports and managing storage (and time), this class will cover the most important aspects of media management on digital productions.
