ARRI ALEXA IFM Optical Clear is an Internal Filter Module frame which is optically clear. Use this when you do not want ND attenuation. Optically clear means that there are no unwanted color shifts.
Filtering behind the lens, rather than in front, saves time and reduces weight, reflections, and complexity. It also reduces unwanted reflection between the last lens element and the sensor, which is sometimes called narcissism. The addition of an IFM futher benefits your sensor by protecting it from dirt contamination during lens changes on set or location.
NOTE: An IFM shim may be required. Your ALEXA XT camera includes the IFM Filter Holder pre-installed and may not require a shim. Please speak with your AbelCine Salesperson with questions.
