Overview
The Sigma 18-35mm T2 Cine High-Speed Zoom - PL Mount features a consistent T2.0 aperture through the entire zoom range, and is optimized for ultra-high resolution cinematography. With exceptional image quality and a compact form factor, this lens is ready for shooting in 6K to 8K, thanks to the same optical system that delivers 50 megapixel or higher resolution in still photography. The 18-35mm Zoom features coverage for a Super-35 image, with minimal flare and ghosting. Color balance has been standardized across Sigma's High Speed Zoom line, designed to comply with Sigma's CCI standard.
Sigma High-Speed Zoom lenses feature the same dust-proof and splash-proof construction as their sports lenses, with each ring and mount specially sealed to prevent water and dust from entering. This makes the lens particularly robust for use in tough conditions, reducing the burden of maintenance. It's 100% metal body helps to ensure durability and a long service life.
Specification, graduation baseline, and lens change indications all feature luminous paint to aid lens changes in low light conditions. Gradations are laser engraved for visibility over the entire operational life of the lens. Standardized gear positions in each ring make use of a follow focus device or lens control motors extremely simple. Each ring features an industry standard 0.8 Mod gearing. The stopper of each ring utilizes a damper constructed from special resin, resulting in silent operation. This eliminates metallic sounds without sacrificing a solid, satisfying feel at the hard stops.
The 18-35mm Zoom features a 160° zoom rotational angle, allowing high precision zooming. The iris ring offers full manual control capability, without clicks, and the aperture display enables precise T-stop visibility. The iris rotational angle is the typical 60° cine standard, with linearity that gives the user the same rotational angle per stop for intuitive control. The focus ring features a 180° rotational angle for high precision, with an optimized cam for easier long distance focusing.
A standard, dedicated lens support foot helps minimize load on the camera port while enhancing mount stability. The height of the seating surface is designed for compatibility with other accessories. While the lens is extremely compact, it still offers two different screw hole positions for this foot, to increase mounting options for the user.
The front outer diameter is 95mm, and an interior 82mm filter thread allows use of screw-in round filters.
Optional accessories like the USB Dock enable the user to connect the lens to a computer and update its firmware.
