Phantom VEO 640S Digital High Speed Camera

The Phantom VEO 640S is a 4 megapixel camera with over 6 Gigapixels/second (Gpx/s) throughput. This translates to the ability to record up to 1,400 frames-per-second (fps) at its 2560 x 1600 resolution, or over 2500 fps at 1080p HD. The top speed at reduced resolution is 300,000 fps. With the maximum RAM configuration of 72GB internal memory, at 1400 fps the VEO 640 provides over 8 seconds of record time.

The rugged VEO 640S camera model doubles as a research tool and a high-speed camera suited to the media industry thanks to the 35mm 2.5K resolution sensor, on-camera controls, removeable CFast 2.0 media (as opposed to proprietary), plus a compact 5.6lb (2.5kg) 5-inch (12.7cm) cube form factor for compatibility with specialty and remote rigs.

Phantom VEO cameras capture more frames than most comparable cameras due to three on-board RAM memory configurations (18GB/36GB/72GB).

The "S" in the model number indicates a full-featured model which includes CFast 2.0 media, on-camera controls, an additional 3G HD-SDI port, and additional signals. "L" models (light) are also available; they are suitable for lab/testing usage.

The CFast workflow is similar to the CineFlash module of the Phantom Miro, according to VRI. Cine files record first to RAM, then transfer to CFast 2.0 media at a speed of 90 MB/s. 

NOTE: The CFast card does not support Run/Stop mode or playback over video.

Be sure to download the latest Firmware Upgrade for Phantom VEO 640S. VRI provides an easy-to-follow set of instructions. They state the firmware includes firmware, upgrade instructions, and release notes. 

Additional Phantom VEO models exist, including the VEO 410S and 710S models with a resolution of 1280x800 and the VEO 340S with similar specs to the VEO 640S, but at a lower top frame rate.
