8.85 Megapixel Super 35mm CMOS Sensor

The EOS C200 Digital Cinema Camera integrates an 8.85 Megapixel Super 35mm 16:9 CMOS sensor that supports 4K (DCI) recording with a maximum resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels. The camera fully utilizes the image data delivered by this 4K CMOS sensor to also enable Over Sampling HD Processing for 2K (DCI) and Full HD 1080/60p recording. You can capture up to 120fps on this camera without cropping the sensor

Each pixel in this CMOS imaging sensor also maintains a wide pixel pitch that maximizes the amount of light that falls on to each photo site. This enhances the EOS C200 camera's sensitivity while also minimizing noise and supporting ISO speeds of up to 102,400 for extreme low-light imaging. This sensor also reduces data-readout time which results in reduced rolling-shutter artifacts.

Lens Compatibility

A major aspect of the creative filmmaking potential of the EOS C200 Digital Cinema Camera is its compatibility with the full range of more than 100 Canon EF and EF-S photographic lenses (including specialty tilt-shift and fisheye models) and Canon's optional 4K CN-E Cinema prime and zoom lenses, including the ENG-style Canon CINE-SERVO and COMPACT-SERVO zooms. Improved EF lens communication capabilities of the EOS C200 camera provide:

  • Display of CN-E Cinema lens T-values
  • Compatibility with Dual-Pixel CMOS AF
  • Lens metadata acquisition
  • Chromatic aberration correction

Iris Values

You can switch the camera display to show iris values between the F-stop and T-value. This helps those shooting on movie sets who prefer to know how much light is passing through the opening of the lens and reaching the sensor. T-values are the traditional measure of light reaching the sensor in video production, while F-stop is the measure of light in still photography. The ability to see the F-stop helps those transitioning from still to video shooting.

Built-In and On-Board Accessories

The EOS C200 Digital Cinema Camera includes a built-in OLED electronic viewfinder, a 4-inch Touch Screen LCD Monitor (LM-V1), Camera Grip (GR-V1), Handle Unit (HDU-2) and Battery Charger (CG-A20). The combination creates a camera package ready-to-go right out of the box. This camera is ideal for single operator shooting applications including film, documentary and television production, as well as corporate video and event videography work and newsgathering.

Dual DiG!C DV 6 Image Processors

The EOS C200 Digital Cinema Camera features Canon’s newly developed dual DiG!C DV 6 image processors, which powerfully process high-resolution image data.

The two on-board DiG!C DV 6 image processors allow for the recoding of 1,800 horizontal TV lines in 4K. The DiG!C 6 is Canon’s sixth-generation Image processor that uses proprietary technology, allowing you to achieve high performance and creative freedom when acquiring images.

Over Sampling HD Processing

The EOS C200 features Over Sampling HD Processing*, a high-image-quality signal processing system to satisfy a broad spectrum of video production needs by effectively utilizing the abundant powers of 4K image expression in 2K (2048 x 1080) / Full HD (1920 x 1080) recording. During the Over Sampling HD Processing, pixels interpolated and 4K RGB data is generated together to produce 2K/HD data generated using non-additive resizing.

* NOTE: Over Sampling HD Processing is not available with Cinema RAW Light recording or 120p/100p.

Extended Sensitivity

The EOS C200 supports an ISO range of between 160 and 25,600. The range expands to between 100 to 102,400 when Extended Sensitivity is set on the camera. This range of ISO settings provide you with more creative freedom. Low ISO values allow you to use large iris settings and shallow depth of field, even in scenes of bright light. The higher ISO values provide you with more flexibility in dimly lit situations.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF Technology

The EOS C200 Digital Cinema Camera features Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF (DAF) Technology. DAF is a breakthrough AF technology that uses the CMOS sensor.

Each pixel in the camera's CMOS sensor is configured with two photodiodes. Two independent image signals can then be detected at each photosite. By implementing phase-difference AF, smooth focusing is accomplished using Canon EF lenses with much higher speed and accuracy than was possible with previous technologies. This is a major advantage during single operator shooting.

During AF, the two photodiodes of each pixel can independently bring in light. During imaging, the image signals are output using the two photodiodes that function as a single pixel.

Touch screen auto focus means you can select precisely what you want to focus upon. Canon provides multiple AF Modes to help you accurately reflect the focusing you require.

Continuous Autofocus and Face Detection

The EOS C200 has one-touch AF (with a push-button) and continuous AF within approximately 80% of the overall image area. Face Detection AF is another autofocus mode that can track a person's face in the frame and maintain focus on them. To further fine tune autofocus performance, the EOS C200 offers the ability to set the AF tracking speed and response. The EOS C200 offers AF and face detection with all Canon EF lenses, except manual focus lenses.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF with Touch Focus

Achieve faster focus with the included Touch Screen LCD Monitor (LM-V1), a new accessory with touchscreen support. Tapping the area of the frame quickly brings the image into focus. This ability to choose the subject for focusing with the tap of the screen helps to make focusing intuitive.

Dual Pixel Focus Guide

The camera's Dual Pixel Focus Guide takes advantage of Dual Pixel CMOS AF data to display focus assist information on the screen. The innovative user interface applies Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology to provide the user focus feedback. This lowers the barrier for focusing, especially when shooting in 4K, which requires strict focus accuracy.

The Dual Pixel Focus Guide presents the user with a rectangle in which to focus the subject. The rectangle turns green when the subject is in focus. If the subject is out of focus the box will turn gray and the arrows will indicate which way to adjust the lens to regain focus.

The camera also features a focus pre-set feature. Separate predetermined focus points can be selected. Then, when the SET button is pushed, the lens will move focus from one mark to the other. This is especially useful when focusing in scenes with multiple subjects.

AF Tuning

A newly developed menu function has been added for Auto-Focus tuning, allowing easy access to camera and lens settings. The AF Speed Tuning function allows users to set the lens drive speed to any of 10 steps. AF subject tracking characteristics can also be varied and set to any of 7 steps. These options allow you to select the appropriate responsiveness when changes have occurred with your subject.

Internal 4K RAW Recording with New Cinema RAW Light

The EOS C200 Digital Cinema Camera features Canon's newly developed Cinema RAW Light, a 4K RAW recording file format offering a smaller file size compared to Canon’s standard RAW** files, while maintaining the same high resolution, high color reproducibility, and wide dynamic range data to provide greater freedom in grading and compositing.

** NOTE: Standard RAW is found on the EOS C500/EOS C300 Mark II/EOS C700 Camera RAW

You can record DCI 4K 60p/50p with Cinema RAW Light to general-purpose media such as the CFast 2.0 card and a MP4 SD Card on the camera. Cinema RAW Light files are about 1/3 to 1/5 the size of Canon’s standard RAW files. The smaller file size and reduced bit rate speed up data transfer and allow internal recording to CFast™ cards.

The reduced file size also helps users extend storage capacity and transfer files on a network more easily. The high bit depth of Cinema RAW Light (10bit/12bit***) maximizes retention of color and dynamic range information, which is especially critical in HDR production.

*** NOTE: 12bit for 4K/30p and under, 10bit for 4K/60p and 50p. Each bit is efficiency optimized in consideration of visual properties.

Cinema RAW Light files can be transcoded to other commonly used file formats, such as DPX or ProRes for later editing and online delivery using Canon's CRD software.

Simultaneous Recording

DCI 4K video (4096x2160) in Cinema RAW Light can be recorded to a CFast™ 2.0 card while recording a 2K sub-recording video (2048x1080) in H.264 Long GOP UCbCr 4.2.0 to an SD card. The smaller file size of the 2K sub-recording file allows for easier editing.

Internal 4K UHD and Full HD Recording in MP4

The EOS C200 Digital Cinema Camera offers 4K UHD and Full HD recording in MP4 format, up to 60fps. The compact size of the MP4 codec allows the EOS C200 to capture images directly to low cost SD cards.

The Canon 16–35mm f/2.8L III USM Super Wide Angle Zoom Lens - EF Mount offers a constant f/2.8 aperture and full frame coverage. The USM (Ultrasonic Motor) makes mechanical operation extremely quiet, and version "III" indicates an improved optical design which results in outer/corner sharpness.

This zoom incorporates a ring-type USM which, when combined with a high-speed CPU and optimized algorithms, delievers fast and accurate AF autofocus. If you prefer, there is a manual override. The lens maintains a sharp focus in low light. It also create a nice bokeh effect due to the rounded, 9-blade aperture diaphragm. Canon added a specialized coating to minimize flare and ghosting effects. The lens construction includes two UD lens elements to minimize chromatic aberration and eliminate color blurring of the subject on high resultion and contrast images.

In most inclement weather you can rest assured that this lens seals make it dust- and water-resistant.

Constant f/2.8 Maximum Aperture

The EF 16–35mm f/2.8L III USM has a bright constant maximum aperture of f/2.8, which provides superb control over depth of field and the ability to maintain the same aperture throughout the zoom range. This is particularly helpful when shooting outdoors at dusk or in inclement weather, or indoors in dimly lit rooms. At f/2.8, the EF 16–35mm f/2.8L III USM offers a bright view when composing images using the camera's viewfinder.

Significant Improvements in Outer / Corner Sharpness

The EF 16–35mm f/2.8L III USM features a new optical design engineered to deliver images of remarkable clarity and depth. It employs two large-diameter double-surface GMo lenses plus a ground aspherical lens to help decrease distortion, curvature of field and astigmatism. Two UD lenses help to reduce chromatic aberration, leading to precise color rendition, accurate edge-to-edge detail plus excellent contrast throughout the lens's zoom range. This results in sharp landscapes, reduced distortion in the edges of the frame and an overall improvement in image quality no matter the subject.

Subwavelength Coating (SWC) and Air Sphere Coating (ASC)

The EF 16–35mm f/2.8L III USM features both Subwavelength Coatings (SWC) and Air Sphere Coatings (ASC) on lens elements to help combat reflections, flare and ghosting, and deliver clean images with reduced aberrations from reflected light. Subwavelength Coatings help prevent reflections by arranging an array of wedge-shaped nanostructures on the lens's surface that are smaller than the wavelength of visible light and are able to help control reflection and flare. Air Sphere Coating technology puts an ultra-low refractive layer on the lens element designed to significantly reduce both flare and ghosting. These coatings, in concert with the EF 16–35mm f/2.8L III USM's overall optical formula, help to deliver a clean image to the camera's sensor, which can decrease the need for post-production correction and enhancement.

This Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Zoom Lens - EF Mount features a maximum aperture of f/2.8. A redesign of its predecessor, this lens combines superb optics with the durable construction required by any professional. Internal construction consists of 18 elements in 13 groups, with (1) Super UD lens element and (2) UD lens elements to minimize chromatic aberration in the periphery. This is especially important at the widest angle. It also reduces color blurring around the edge of a subject.

Flourine coating on the front and rear lens surface will help reduce soiling, smears, and fingerprints while the body supplies an improved dust and water resistant function. It delivers an 84° - 34° diagonal angle of view and features close focus at 1.25' (0.38m). Accepts 82mm threaded, round filters.

A zoom lock lever enables the user to lock the lens at a particular zoom position for safe transportation.

Utilize the full-time manual focusing to maintain complete control, adjust, or alter the focus at any time in every shot, even when autofocus is engaged.

The Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Standard Zoom Lens - EF Mount, improves upon the design of the original 70-200mm 2.8L iS USM professional lens to maintain the same telephoto characteristics you have come to expect while increasing the speed, the performance, and the optical quality. This 70-200mm lens features a maximum aperture of 1.28. Its lens is constructed out of 23 elements in 19 groups. One fluorite and five UD elements are included for increased quality and also reduced chromatic aberration.

With a minimum focus distance of 3.9 feet (1.2m), this lens can assist you in smaller spaces. You will also appreciate the Optical Image Stabilizer built into the lens which provides up to 4 stops of correction at all focal lengths. It fits a 77mm filter size and is both dust and water-resistant.

The Canon 70-200mm T4.4 Compact-Servo Zoom Lens - EF Mount delivers full external servo control over zoom, focus, and iris. The integrated servo drive unit is compatible with broadcast industry-standard lens controllers including Canon's standard broadcast lens controllers (ZSD-300D/FPD-400D). An optional ZSG-C10 Zoom Servo Grip can mount to the lens for handheld operation.

This 70-200mm lens combines high level 4K optical performance with a compact size of only 7.2 in. in length and a weight of only 2.76lb to provide great mobility. The lightweight design and compact size allows these lenses to be used in a wide range of shooting environments and applications.

Three levels of Image Stabilization and incorporated autofocus functions set the Compact-Servo 70–200mm T4.4 EF lens apart from traditional Super 35mm Cinema lenses. A 9-blade iris creates a rounded aperture which means out-of-focus highlights appear circular. The lens also features a 2.8x zoom magnification, a focal length range of 70–200mm, and a 130º smooth rotating focus ring.

The lens is also compatible with the Canon EF 1.4x III and EF 2x III Extenders. The 70–200mm T4.4 EF lens offers professional video functionality all at an affordable price, making it ideal for a wide range of video applications including documentary, cinema, news gathering, wedding, and other video production.

The Compact-Servo 70-200mm lens fits right into your kit. The zoom range, image stabilization, and lightweight body of this lens will match your CN-E prime lenses.

4K Imagery

Sharp imagery can be produced with 4K resolution on the Compact-Servo 70-200mm.

Canon mentions how the contrast range associated with High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging helps ensure both deep black reproduction and excellent highlights. It also can enhance lens chromatic aberrations, but Canon’s optical design of the Compact-Servo lens family anticipated this in order to minimize aberrations.

Canon Compact-Servo lenses provide these features:

Parfocal Operation (precise focus through the entire zoom range) – Achieve Parfocal Operation  in both manual and autofocus modes with the Canon Compact-Servo lenses which employ a special lens group to move and maintain precise focus while a separate lens group performs the zooming action. This helps you maintain focus while zooming.

Consistent Brightness – Canon Compact-Servo lenses provide consistent brightness throughout the entire zoom range by maintaining a wide aperture of T4.4 (F4.0). In this manner, you will be able to zoom without the image dimming.

Minimized Focus Breathing – Canon Compact-Servo lens minimizes focus breathing

When you adjust focus during video capture. Focus breathing is a change in magnification of the image when adjusting focus.

Continuous Iris Control – Precise exposure control is provided by Canon’s Compact-Servo lenses due to the 9-blade iris which creates a rounded aperture. Out-of-focus highlights appear circular and the lens adjusts smoothly from open to closed. An odd number of iris blades, along with an increased blade count, can reduce distracting flares. You can also completely close the Compact-Servo irises to adjust your black balance.

Image Stabilization (IS) – Three levels of Image Stabilization are offered by Compact-Servo lenses:

  • Standard Mode for handheld operation
  • Maximum Mode for high frequency movement
  • Smooth Mode for tripod-based operations

You can also switch off the IS function, if required.

Color Consistency – Canon refined their color science over many generations of lens designs. They paid close attention to pleasing skin tone reproduction. You can interchange Canon’s Cinema (CN-E) lenses and Compact-Servo lenses during the same product (or use one on Camera A and another lens family on Camera B) yet retain the same warm, cine-look color characteristics in your separate footage.

Servo Drive Unit – Power your zoom servo drive controls through the lens mount or via a separate port. This unit is compatible with Canon zoom and focus broadcast-style controllers. You can also mount an optional ZSG-C10 Zoom Servo Grip to the servo drive for handheld use.

Autofocus & Autoexposure – Ultrasonic Motor drives (USM) provide fast and quiet autofocus on this Compact-Servo lens. Canon Electromagnetic Diaphragm technology incorporates a motor directly to the lens iris for precise and smooth autoexposure response.

Extend your Focal Length – Expand your zoom range with an optional extender such as the Canon EF 1.4x or the EF 2x III Extender.

Manual Operation – Disengage the Servo controls for the focus, iris, and zoom rings to operate this lens in a manual mode. All three things deliver fluid operation. In full manual mode, the barrel rings are direct controls for the precise adjustments you require. You can rotate the focus ring 130° for accurate mark settings. Due to the gearing on the lens rings you also have the option to engage separate accessory controllers.

  • Focus Ring 0.8M Gear
  • Iris Ring 0.5M Gear
  • Focus Ring 0.5M Gear

The Compact-Servo lens family supports a wide range of optional accessories. Please recall when pairing the 70-200mm with a mattebox that the front diameter of this lens is 84mm without the removable, included sunshade. It accepts 77mm screw-in filters. You can choose an optional lens support foot to stabilize the lens on rods.
