The Sony NP-F970 47.4Wh 7.2V InfoLithium L Series Battery includes a built-in microprocessor that accurately calculates remaining battery life in minutes. The battery will last up to 12 hours on a single charge (depending on device power draw).
Sony's Lithium-ion batteries can be charged or discharged at anytime without developing memory effect (i.e., they never lose their ability to hold a full charge). They also display remaining battery time on the LCD as well as in the viewfinder by continuously communicating with the camcorder.
