RENTAL
Our expanded rental facility has been designed for your comfort and efficiency and serves all levels of production from features, episodics, and commercials to docs, indies, and accessory rentals. You’ll have plenty of space to work in one of our 14 checkout bays. Ten of these bays will be equipped with our new automated rail system and Resolution Analysis Charts. You’ll now be able to control the position of the chart using a tablet mounted to the checkout workstation.
Enjoy coffee and other amenities in the rental lounge. Or, if you require more space and privacy, independent spaces accommodate camera tests, production crews and talent, as well as hair and makeup.
Behind the scenes, an expanded warehouse will support our growing rental inventory. Rental techs will have easy access to both the checkout floor and the warehouse allowing us to serve productions of any size more efficiently than ever before.
TECH SERVICES
Our tech services department has been expanded to handle a greater volume of service jobs and house more technicians. The state-of-the-art repair center will be equipped with the optical calibration equipment to perform authorized service on Angenieux, Canon and ZEISS cine lenses. Many of the test devices in our service department are the same tools used by the lens manufacturers themselves. In addition, we’ve built well-appointed projection and shading rooms equipped with laminar flow benches, which provide a cleanroom environment and ensure that your lens and camera service jobs are of the highest quality.
The tools in our camera lab allows us to create accurate lens files within the camera to ensure a constant white point when shooting with a variety of lenses. We’re also able to match cameras for a consistent look across your project. It’s all part of how we service your complete package from camera to lenses to accessories. Our techs are equipped to perform maintenance and technical support on camera systems from ARRI, Canon, Panasonic, Phantom and Sony. We also offer electronic and mechanical repair on a wide variety of accessories. In our new facility, we’ll have the tools and capability to provide you with the highest level of service.
TRAINING
At the heart of our new Brooklyn facility is the multi-purpose Learning Point, which is designed to host a wide variety of training classes, seminars, screenings and community events. A spectacular, dedicated theater seats 107 people and is equipped with 4K projection, a 15-foot screen, and 7.1 surround sound. 4K PTZ cameras and 4K displays complete the package, allowing for seamless broadcasting and also provide an ideal environment for critical image analysis.
AbelCine’s integration team has equipped the theater’s control room with lighting and audio control, footage recording and playback, multi-cam live switching, and live streaming capability. All A/V signals from this control room can be routed throughout the entire facility for an interactive experience.
Our auxiliary training room holds approximately 15 people and is ideal for more intimate training sessions.
COMMUNITY
At AbelCine, we see ourselves as a home for filmmakers. We believe that sharing knowledge is an essential part of what we do, and we’ve built spaces in our new location for you to meet informally with other creatives and industry professionals and share perspectives. We’ve created a comfortable lounge, which will be home to a unique, interactive exhibit opening next year.
THE FIRST CINEMAKERS
The First CineMakers, coming to AbelCine in 2018, will feature a curated selection of cameras, lenses and artifacts from the earliest days of cinema. Learn the stories behind the incredible, hand-crafted tools used by the pioneers of our industry and the people who made them. This self guided exhibit will be comprised of original cameras, printers, posters, photos, and reference documents from the renowned Malkames Collection, and also include interactive audio and video elements. Get a glimpse back into the roots of the technology we use today and be inspired to explore your own creative horizons.
DEVELOPMENT CENTER
The first phase of AbelCine’s to move to Industry City was the creation of our Development Center, home to our engineering, product development, and integration teams. Our integration specialists consult and configure everything for live-stream and production studio environments, and also provide asset management, storage, and archival solutions. Our product development group designs products for our Cameo line, and creates OEM solutions for our partners and clients. The Development Center is a true hub of innovation within AbelCine and connects us to the broader community at Industry City.
