AbelCine and Lux Lighting Join Forces to Expand Their Reach and Cinematic Lighting Offerings to All Levels of the Film, Television, and Broadcast Markets
Longtime cinema service provider, reseller and system integrator AbelCine has made a push in recent years beyond their traditional cinema sphere and into new markets where cinematic imaging is growing, including live performance, unscripted, corporate, and house of worship.
“Lux Lighting’s years of industry experience in cinema lighting for film and television, combined with AbelCine’s infrastructure, nationwide salesforce and new market reach, will enable us to provide innovative and holistic solutions that consider all aspects of the content creation process, and in particular, creative lighting’s relationship to camera, optics, and its environment,” stated Pete Abel, CEO and co-founder of AbelCine.
Lux Lighting was co-founded in 1998 by renowned gaffer and chief lighting technician Mike Bauman, whose credits include Licorice Pizza, Iron Man, The Master, Ford v Ferrari, The Tragedy of Macbeth, and Phantom Thread.
“Cinema cameras have a wider dynamic range and greater sensitivity than ever before, which enables us to paint with light in ways that we could only dream of in the past,” observes Bauman. “By partnering with the team at AbelCine, and thinking of the interconnection of devices on set, we can bring the same creative approach to lighting solutions for end users as I do on the projects that I work on. It’s exciting to imagine the possibilities with Lux and AbelCine working together.”
The partnership will utilize both Lux Lighting and AbelCine’s customer-facing teams for sales, consultation, and system integration, with AbelCine’s order processing, procurement and customer service infrastructure employed for order fulfillment. Customers will have the luxury of working through their preferred channel for all pre-sales discussions and quotes.
The benefit to traditional customers will be a deeper collective knowledge source across more markets, increased communication, stronger post-sales support, and AbelCine’s financing services.
The impact for integration customers will be a more holistic approach to the design of studios, venues and media environments, as well as opening up the opportunity for integrated solution development and further innovations.
