At the Bench: Recording with the Sound Devices MixPre Series

The MixPre-3, MixPre-6, and MixPre-10T are the latest additions to the Sound Devices line of professional audio equipment. Each unit is a feature rich mixer and recorder. In this blog, I focus on how they can be used to record audio from your camcorder.

The MixPre series incorporates the legendary quality of the Sound Devices preamp, with a familiar menu and display architecture. They record isolated tracks for each input as well as a mix down track. Additionally, they have the ability to record via a USB input. This opens up a whole host of possibilities for those who require professional audio capture from numerous devices. Watch the video to see how the MixPre (specifically, the MixPre-6) can be set up to work with a camcorder and how to record audio from a laptop via USB connection.
