Sigma continues to expand their popular FF High Speed Cine Prime lens set. They are adding 28mm, 40mm, and 105mm focal lengths to the existing 14, 20, 24, 35, 50, 85, and 135mm primes. All three lenses will be T1.5 maximum aperture and will be available in both EF and PL mounts.
In this video, I preview the 40mm and 105mm on a RED WEAPON DSMC2 with MONSTRO sensor at both FF size and roughly Super 35 sensor size to give an idea of field of view, out of focus characteristics and other optical qualities. Note that it is impossible to critically analyze a lens through a compressed video hosted online, and that the two lenses provided are pre-production samples. Even considering that, it looks like these lenses will fit in nicely with the current set and provide some great options for cinematographers and DPs looking for alternative focal lengths.
