The Arri ALEXA XT, featuring a new XR recording module and in-camera ARRIRAW recording up to 120fps, has started shipping across the US. In this three part video series, Andy Shipsides goes hands-on with the camera and takes us through the technical details and workflow processes.
In the first video, Andy gives an overview of all the new features of the ALEXA XT, including an internal ND option and an even quieter fan. He also discusses some of the new accessories that are available for the camera.
Part two of the series features Andy going over the ALEXA XT workflow with the new XR recording module. He explains how to download clips when recording in ProRes or DNxHD, as well as how to use the Codex VFS when recording in Raw.
In the third video, Andy shows off the ALEXA XT's ability to read ASC CDL (Color Decision List) LUT settings as it records. He gives a step-by-step walkthrough of setting up a CDL server on the camera and how to use it with Pomfort's LiveGrade software and the Codex Raw workflow.
