The FOCUS was an instant hit on set, but there have certainly been requests for the additional flexibility of an SDI port. The FOCUS SDI is here to fulfull those requests – instead of the HDMI port found on the side of the monitor, you will now find a full-sized BNC connector. In addition, the tilt mount has been upgraded to include a pan axis, which will make quickly adjusting monitor position a breeze. A new OLED panel option is also available, offering better color, contrast and sharpness over the LCD found in the original FOCUS.
Finally, we take a look at the new FOCUS Bolt, which integrates a Teradek Bolt 500 transmitter into the monitor. Wes is quick to point out that it is indeed a Bolt 500 and not a Sidekick, like the one found in the 703 Bolt, and said it will be available in the future. It is currently also HDMI only; SDI will be available at a later date. With the locking security of SDI, coupled with the new pan-axis addition to the FOCUS’s mounting bracket, gimbal operators will definitely want to check this out!
