Canon EFS Ultrasonic Zoom Lens 17-55mm f2.8 w/ Front and Rear Caps

This 17-55mm lens is constructed of 19 elements in 12 groups with a 5-group helical zoom. It includes both UD and aspherical elements to delivery high quality images throughout the zoom range along with reduced aberrations.

The Image Stabilizer lens group will shift to compensate for camera movement. This delivers a steady image on the plane with crisp qualities, even under dim lighting. The optical Image Stabilizer also enables up to 3 shutter stops of blur compensation during handheld or low light situations. That way your subject will remain crisp and in focus in combination with the bokeh background characteristics professional cinematographers demand.

Autofocus (AF) is achieved in a quick and quiet manner on the Canon EF-S 17-55mm lens due to the Ultrasonic Autofocus Motor. The ring-type USM provides predictive tracking. Other features include inner focusing, plus new AF algorithms. Full-time mechanical manual focusing is possible while in AF mode should you wish to employ that in your arsenal.

EF-S mount lenses function solely on Canon APS-C DSLR cameras. They feature a small image circle to cover the smaller sensors found on APS-C DSLR cameras. EF-S mount lenses don't suit full-frame DSLRs due to the black corners created- otherwise known as heavy vignetting-since the lens would not cover a larger sized sensor.

Canon's optimized lens coating enhances the abilities of this zoom lens. It minimizes both flare and ghosting.

This lens fits filter size 77mm. The Canon EW-83J Lens Hood (bayonet, petal form, two-claw removable hood; attachable in reverse) mounts on this lens and can be purchased separately.
