Overview
Since their introduction in the early 1980s, Zeiss Super Speed Lenses have been a workhorse in the film industry. While everyone refers to these lenses as "Super Speeds," their officially name is High Speed Lenses. Zeiss did not officially used the term "Super Speed" until the introduction of the CP.2 "Super Speed" Lenses in the mid 2010s.
Zeiss Super Speeds size, speed, and image quality make them stand out amongst all lenses. Opening up to a T1.3 and averaging under 4" in length, you will not find a more compact lens design. This was accomplished by Zeiss's T* Element Coating and integration of aspherical elements into optical design. While these lenses were considered incredibly sharp when they first entered the market, they still have a vintage feel compared to modern lens design. With beautiful flares and pleasing bokeh, with reasonably high contrast, the Zeiss Super Speeds the perfect balance of modern and vintage looks.
Our fleet of Zeiss Super Speeds contain a variety of Mark II and Mark III versions of the lenses. The only difference in the two generations are slight mechanical differences. To ensure the mechanical quality of these lenses, we have regularly scheduled mechanical overhauls and reconditioning. All lenses will have proper gearing for both focus and iris and be ready to work with most modern lens accessories.
We also offer an uncoated version of the Zeiss Super Speeds for even more flaring and vintage characteristics.
