Overview
Zeiss B-Speed Lenses are the original iteration of the much loved Zeiss Super Speeds. Sharing many of the same characteristics of the later Super Speed lenses, B-Speeds offer beautiful flares, a warm color tone, and sharp but not too sharp focus. At wide open, these lenses are slightly softer than a Super Speed, but once stopped down to T2.8, the image quality is comparable to the Super Speeds.
B-Speeds are revered for their unique iris design. The iris of these lenses use 3 layers of 3 blades, which overlap each other when closing down. This gives the iris a pillowy triangular shape. Their bokeh is beautiful and unique, having a soft fall off thanks to the non-circular design.
These rehousings by TLS have an extremely high build quality. TLS ensure all their modified units are highly robust and will last for many years. When rehousing the optics of the B-Speeds, TLS make sure that the optics will remain unchanged and their unmistakable visuals will be preserved as they originally are. The updated housings are compatible with electronic drives, follow focus units and matte boxes. Focus pullers will appreciate the smooth feel and reliable movement that provides excellent results every time.
