Sony PMW-F55 CineAlta 4K Camera

The Sony PMW-F55 CineAlta 4K Digital Cinema Camera features a 4K CMOS imager, global shutter, and enhanced operating functions. The F-55 offers deep shadows with low noise and bright highlights with 14 stops of exposure latitude. It also includes the same color filter as the Sony F65 to deliver a wide color gamut. The camera includes a native Sony FZ-Mount along with a PL Mount adapter to accept a variety of lenses. This camera incorporates modularity into its structure and is both small and lightweight (less than 5 lb) to accommodate stereoscopic 3D shooting in addition to gimbal or aerial work. A shoulder-mounted rig configuration by Sony is an available option, as are several third-party rigs designed for comfort and long shooting days (not included).

2K/4K RAW recording is available on AXSM™ memory cards (not included) using the optional bolt-on AXS-R5 recorder (not included), designed specifically to attach seamlessly to the F55 and F5 cameras. There is also high speed shooting up to 240 fps RAW 2K and 60 fps in RAW 4K with the AXS-R5. RAW recording retains the greatest latitude for color grading and other revisions in post. Sony RAW retains 16 times as many red, green, and blue gradations as 12-bit RAW and 64 times as many tones per channel as 10-bit recording.

The camera natively accepts SxS PRO+ memory cards (not included), and features simultaneous internal recording options. SxS recording formats are 8-bit MPEG-2 HD422 @ 50 Mbps, 10-bit XAVC 2K/HD @ 100 Mbps, SR Codec 10-bit MPEG4 SStP @ 220/440/880 Mbps, and XAVC 4K/QFHD @ 300 Mbps. You can record onboard in these combinations (RAW recording requires the AXS-R5 recorder):
