Join us on Thursday, April 15 at 10:30am PT / 1:30pm ET for Creative Forces Online! This FREE event will feature special guest, filmmaker and photographer Jessica Dimmock, who will discuss her artistic approach to crafting shots, as well as what inspires her work, whether in stills or motion. The stream will be hosted by AbelCine Camera Technology Specialist Geoff Smith, with time for Q&A throughout.
Jessica Dimmock is a New York based photographer and filmmaker. Her first body of work, The Ninth Floor, won numerous international awards, including the Inge Morath Award from Magnum, the F Award from Fabrica and Forma and the Juror’s Choice Award from Center in Santa Fe. Other photographic and film work has earned her Three World Press Photo Awards, The Infinity Award from The International Center of Photography, the Kodak Award for Best Cinematography, and, most recently, a Guggenheim Fellowship in film and video. She has been member of VII for more than 10 years.
She has been included in Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film and is a fellow of the Sundance Documentary Fund. Jessica is the co-director of the critically acclaimed Netflix documentary series Flint Town which was nominated for a Critic’s Choice Award, an IDA award and a Cinema Eye Honors. She is the co-director of The Gallagher Effect, which won an Emmy, and directed on the reboot of Unsolved Mysteries for Netflix. She is currently working on a series for Hulu. Before her work as a visual storyteller Jessica worked as a public school teacher in Brooklyn.
