Overview
The ARRI EMC-1 ENG Motor Controller provides control for the integrated focus, iris, and zoom motor of ENG lenses, and lens data for display on the WCU-4 Hand Unit (not included). Simply connect the EMC-1 to a power source via a compatible power cable (sold separately). The EMC-1 will power-up automatically when connected to the power source.
The EMC-1 features a user interface enabling the user to quickly configure the system. The 1.2” transflective LCD display shows vital status information and is easily readable in any ambient light conditions.
Four soft buttons are located above and below the display. They change their behavior depending on the screen content. Two rows at the top and the bottom of the screen show the function related to each button. Buttons without a label have no function in that screen.
The EMC-1 features a LENS port (Hirose 12-pin) for connecting to an ENG-type zoom lens, an LCS port (Fischer 5-pin) to connect to hand units via an ARRI LCS cable (not included) for wired operation, and a CAM (Fischer 10-pin) multi-pin port offering a variety of protocols and providing both REC and tally control for most digital cameras. The EMC-1 also features a microSD Card slot, and 3/8"-16 Mounting Point for accessories like L-Bracket or V-Plate (sold separately).
To keep your EMC-1 up-to-date, you may need to update its firmware. Please check ARRI’s website for the latest firmware packages.

*NOTE: The SXU-1 cannot control the zoom axis on an ENG-type lens.
Software Update:
ARRI has released Software Update Packet (SUP) 1.30 for the ENG Motor Controller EMC-1. This SUP adds support for region settings to the EMC-1 (only available with EMIP300 radio module). ARRI highly recommends updating the EMC-1 to this software update package.
WARNING: Downgrading is not possible to revert back to a previous release version. EMC-1 software before SUP 1.30 (EMC1_V0130) should no longer be used and may cause the EMC-1 to malfunction and become inaccessible. If that happens, the EMC-1 can only be made accessible with the support of an ARRI Service Center.
This SUP adds the following new features and changes:
- SUP 1.29 allows setting the radio output power according to regions
- This function is only available with EMC-1 devices containing the EMIP300 type radio module (ARRI white coded radio module with the latest generation chipset)
- Please check transceiver ID for the installed radio module labeled on the back of the EMC-1 device
